Cherasco market
Sometimes I’m wondering about the phenomenon of little towns in Langhe and Roero. Each of them, more or less popular, manages to organize a nice event practically from nothing, often even finding the reason to encourage the citizens to go out or attract tourists visiting surroundings. One of many events in Cherasco can be a good example: Mercato dei prodotti alimentari and Mercato del cioccolato d’autore.
Pumpkin soup
Halloween has already passed and you have no idea what to do with a pumpkin or even the whole collection of pumpkins? Why not just cook it? There are many ways of using this nice vegetable, but my favorite one is a cream soup. Salone del Gusto – a review
Piedmont is for sure one of the best places in the world to organize il Salone Internazionale del Gusto, which is untypical international food fairs. If you have been following my blog for some time I’m sure you already noticed that food plays a significant role in this region and a lot of events, touristic attractions and everyday life is focused around fantastic Italian tastes and wonderful wines. Consider this, it isn’t surprising that Slow Food was born here, in Barolo town. At the beginning its activity was limited to Langhe and Roero, then they spread over Italy and finally they reached the rest of the world.
Medieval Alba
Castles construction, witches serving mulled wine, monks offering food, competitions organized in a traditional way and omnipresent flavor of roasted meat (pigs rotating over the fire included). Alba immersed in Medieval time and all the city center changed completely the look. Event called il Baccanale del tartufo and il Borgo si rievoca – started on Saturday October 20th at night and finished on Sunday afternoon.
La vendemmia in the Rivetto vineyard
Clouds often cover the sky, the temperature dropped, trees are getting yellow, even pots outside my house changed the way they look like – geraniums and surfinias have given place to colorful heathers. The Langhe hills are ranging from orange to red shade of grapevine that free of fruits can finally go dormant. Meanwhile winemakers are keeping their nose to the grindstone on 2012 vintage, that according to experts looks like promising.
Il Salone Internazionale del Gusto
Starting from Thursday, October 25th it begins one of the biggest events in Piedmont (Italy): il Salone Internazionale del Gusto. It will take place in Turin (Lingotto Fiere) till October 29th.
